It all started with David Ortiz hitting a three run home run over to deep right field. Ian Kinsler returned the favor with a three run home run of his own at the top of the fifth. The game ended with the final score at 17 for the Rangers and 19 for the Red Sox, a total of 36 runs scored in nine innings.
The Eighteen Inning Game – The August 25, 2001 game between the team at the Ball Park in Arlington may not be a high scoring one, but it went on for six and a half hours. In front of forty thousand plus fans, the Red Sox and the Rangers fought for every base, run and out. In the end it was the Texas Rangers who came out on top with an 8–7 win.
