Two teams who at one point in time were dominant in the Western Conference. The Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors are in completely different situations. Golden State is an annual contender to raise the Larry O'Brien Trophy, while the Trail Blazers are a lottery team in the midst of rebuilding. Portland Trail Blazers at a Glance
The Trail Blazers were founded in 1970. Their first franchise player was former UCLA star Bill Walton, who would go on to have a Hall of Fame career. The team would see moderate success but always played second fiddle to the likes of the Lakers and Houston Rockets. Portland would go on to feature rosters built around Clyde Drexler, and Arvydas Sabonis, even reaching the NBA Finals, only to lose to the Pistons and Bulls. The team would slip back into mediocrity for a number of years, only to be rescued by Damian Lillard in 2012. The team would see success in the regular season and playoffs, however never make it out of the Western Conference Finals.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors have been one of the most dominant franchises in the modern NBA. Their roster has been built through the draft and is comprised of sharpshooters Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and defensive-enforcer Draymond Green. Golden State has seen their fair share of playoff success, having been to the NBA Playoffs 8 times in the last 10 years, and winning the Championship 4 of those times. Dub Nation, as they are affectionately called make their home in Chase Center. The arena gets noisy and you can bet it will be when they host the Trail Blazers.
