From pro cheerleader to pro comedian

Growing up in San Jose, Anjelah Johnson was always where the action was happening. She was involved in sports and dance, and in high school she began acting. In 2002 she started cheerleading for the Oakland Raiders, earning the coveted Rookie of the Year title and cheering at Super Bowl XXXVII. However, she moved to Los Angeles in 2005 for something completely different. Encouraged by a friend, she dove into comedy, quickly making a name for herself locally and online. She was hired by MADtv in 2007, her stand-out character being Bon Qui Qui, a hilariously vicious fast food employee. Her work on MADtv earned her a nomination for an ALMA Award. Two years later she got her own hour-long special on Comedy Central, and she began appearing in high profile movies. Netflix released Homecoming Show in 2013, with her third and fourth specials following in quick succession.
