About Annie
Annie: The Musical tells the inspiring story of a lowly orphan at the Municipal Girls' Orphanage in New York City who is adopted by a incredibly rich man who provides her with a home and the love that she'd always wanted. The musical features absolute classics like "Tomorrow" and "It's a Hard Knock Life", and is one of the most beloved productions in the history of musical theater. Based on a comic strip by artist Harold Gray titled Little Orphan Annie, Annie was scored by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin and written by Thomas Meehan. Its initial Broadway run beginning in 1977 was record-breaking for the time, and the musical is still bringing audiences into seats in droves as a result of its classic and inspiring story and its diverse range of colorful characters. From the uptight but generous Daddy Warbucks to the wretched orphanage worker Miss Hannigan, Annie encounters a true spectrum of humanity as she adjusts to life outside the orphanage and spreads her unfailing optimism to all those around her.
