A challenger for the modern era
The Baylor Bears basketball program got its start in the early 1900s, with their first showdown against rival TCU Horned Frogs resulting in a 37-6 win. The Bears earned their first conference championship title in 1932, making their debut in the NCAA Tournament in 1946. After the success of the 1940s, the team struggled to make an impression in the league. However, in the mid 2000s the Bears began to make a comeback. Led by Coach Scott Drew, the Baylor Bears again achieved a spot in the NCAA Tournament. In 2010 they fought their way all the way to the Elite Eight before falling to Missouri. Since then, they've been a constant threat in both the NCAA Tournament and the National Invitation Tournament. In 2013 they secured the NIT Championship title against Iowa, a first for the team.
