A Slow Transformation of Faith

As a young man, Mike Weaver was already deeply committed to both music and his faith. He was acting as a worship leader when small seeds were planted that would ultimately change his life in big ways. Encouraged by his pastor, Weaver enrolled at the University of Mobile to study music. Weaver founded Big Daddy Weave in the early 2000s, with the band releasing its debut album independently in 2001. However, it wasn't long before the group began to gain traction. After signing with Fervent, Big Daddy Weave released One and Only, and the band's sophomore album, Fields of Grace, cracked the Top Ten of the US Christian Albums chart. In 2003 Big Daddy Weave was both nominated for New Artist of the Year at the Dove Awards and included on the WOW Worship album, an annual compilation record that showcases the biggest Christian music hits of the year. They were able to reach an even wider audience when they started touring. First they joined Mark Schultz, and then they went on tour with Josh Wilson. Since then, Big Daddy Weave has continued to release prolifically, including their Dove Award-winning Christmas album, Christ Is Come.
