About Black Flag
Rise Above! It's time to reunite and follow the Black Flag into battle... because they are back with a U.S. Tour! Since 1976, Black flag has pioneered the hardcore punk and post-hardcore movements. They are also credited with pioneering the movement of the underground DIY record labels that became popular during the 1980's. Through multiple member changes and evolutions of sound, Black Flag has maintained a dedicated cult following, and has remained a well respected band within the punk subculture.
Black Flag History
Greg Ginn, Chuck Dukowski, Brian Migdol, and Keith Morris formed Black Flag in 1977. Gin and Dukowski also formed SST, an independent record label, and released their band's first EP, Nervous Breakdown. After their release of Jealous Again, the band began to tour the United States ceaselessly. Henry Rollins, the bands most influential vocalist to date, joined the group in 1981. Ginn broke up the band in 1986 to focus on running SST Records, and went on to release the first recordings of bands like Soundgarden, Dinosaur Jr, and Screaming Trees. Rollins and Ginn did not perform together until the 2002 benefit album, Rise Above. the Rollins Band supported the following benefit tour. The band was reunited once again for 3 shows in 2013. 2011 brought yet another reunion, this time with Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, and Bill Stevenson. The impromptu performance got such a positive reception that they set up a concert tour in 2013, and renamed their new group FLAG.
Black Flag 2019
At the beginning of 2019, it was announced that Black Flag will reunite for their first performance together in five years.
