A History of Bloc Party: Formation and Albums

The band was initially formed in 1999 by two members at the local Reading Festival. In the first few years, their name changed a handful of times. After the band was given a slot on the renowned BBC Radio 1, the band became more widely known and started to perform at large venues. In 2005, the band released their debut album. This was called Silent Alarm and received numerous positive reviews. It was actually named Album of the Year by a variety of well-respected media outlets and became certified platinum in the UK. The band, capitalizing on the success of their first album, released a second album two years later, titled A Weekend in the City. This album peaked at number 2 in Great Britain. The band continues to perform even to this day and will be going on tour again in 2019.

Bloc Party is going on tour in 2019 and will be performing throughout a variety of locations in Europe, including Germany and the United Kingdom, this summer. The band will be coming to the United States in the fall, performing in a variety of locations including New York and Boston.
