A long journey to instant success

Singer Ed Roland had been working the underground Atlanta scene for years when he got his lucky break into the industry. One of his demos made its way to the Georgia Music Show, which put "Shine" on the air. It became a sensation, its popularity soon spreading to Orlando, Florida. With a demand for live shows, Ed Roland pulled together a band to start performing. Atlantic Records signed the band and released Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid. After performing at Woodstock 1994, the band released their sophomore album, featuring hits like "Smashing Young Man," "Gel," and "December." The band continued to release successful albums for many years, forming their own label in 2004. Despite their notoriety as one of the most popular hard rock bands of the 1990s and early 2000s, in recent years the members have split their time between the band and other side projects. Between Collective Soul and See What You Started by Continuing, six years elapsed, making Collective Soul concerts even more in demand.
