About Electric Zoo: Wild Island

On Labor Day weekend 2009, more than 25,000 people gathered on Randall's Island in New York City to enjoy 55 artists for two days of sunshine, celebration and dancing, at the very first Electric Zoo music festival. Following the likes of others in the music festival industry, Electric Zoo has experienced significant change, expansion and redesign since its inaugural festival. Yet it has managed to remain one of the premier events among the competitive and ever-popular New York electronic dance music scene and was nominated for "Best Music Event" by the International Dance Music Awards for five consecutive years beginning in 2010. By the time event organizers had rolled out an entirely new festival layout, four innovative stage designs and themes, as well as several other transformations for the 2015 weekend, cheap Electric Zoo tickets reached the hands of close to 80,000 eager EDM enthusiasts.

Creating an urban jungle
In 2016, the upcoming festival has re-branded itself once again. The Electric Zoo: Wild Island event has promised, "...production that looks straight from another dimension, and the kind of vibes that will have you roaring with glee for months afterwards." Escape the skyscrapers and taxi horns for an electrifying experience on Randall's Island - a perfect festival venue of 9 grassy miles of island along New York City's East River that sits between the Bronx, Queens and Manhattan. In 2016, the lush, remote island will be transformed once again to an "urban jungle." Nature, exotic animals and new world exploration are the major themes at play for the 2016 set and stage design. The annual Labor Day weekend music festival will take place Friday Sept. 2 through Sunday Sept. 4 this year. Notorious for its sunny, balmy, beach-like weather this late summer long weekend aims to deliver on good times, great beats and lots of sweat-soaked people. But not to worry - last year began the tradition of handing out deodorant sticks to Electric Zoo fans.

World renowned artists
Electric Zoo brings together all genres and sub-genres of electronic and world music. Each year, internationally renowned DJs from a variety of countries around the globe come to perform across the four unique and thematic stages. The original Electric Zoo festival welcomed the likes of Deadmau5, Busy P, Tiga, Steve Aoki and Speedy J. Notable performers who have taken the stage in recent years include Kill Them With Color, Thomas Jack, Cashmere Cat, Canadians Zeds Dead, Borgore and Markus Schulz. Last year's biggest names included Paco Osuna, The Chemical Brothers, Claptone and Com Truise.
