About Jack's Mannequin
Jack's Mannequin is a rock band formed in 2004 with in Orange County, California featuring lead vocalist Andrew McMahon. When McMahon was in fourth grade, his uncle passed away and his family moved to California to support the rest of the family. McMahon has said that it was his uncle, - an artist himself - who was his inspiration to become a musician. He started writing his own music and you could get some cheap tickets to his early concerts because he began performing for school assemblies before he ever got professional training.
McMahon had originally began his career as the front man and pianist for Something Corporate, however when they went on hiatus in 2004, McMahon saw his opportunity to flex his own songwriting skills. He wrote about his return to his hometown he left to pursue music, which turned into Jack's Mannequin's debut album "Everything in Transit." The band also features Bobby Anderson on back up vocals and guitar, Mikey Wagner on bass and Jay McMillan on drums.
McMahon's fresh sound was well received by followers of Something Corporate, and "Everything in Transit" hit No. 37 on the Billboard album charts. The album produced many of the band's most famous hits including everyone's famous "Dark Blue." Other popular songs include: "The Mixed Tape," "Bruised," "Holiday From Real," and "There, There Katie."
Unfortunately, in 2005, McMahon had to cancel his upcoming concerts after he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. As he was making a recovery, Everything in Transit started to blow up, and fans were itching for him to get better so they could purchase Jack's Mannequin tickets. But, after his mend in 2006, Jack's Mannequin toured with O.A.R as their opening act. On November 30, 2015 the band announced they would reunite for their tenth-anniversary tour of Everything in Transit.
Recently, McMahon's song "I Heard Your Voice In A Dream" he wrote for the television series SMASH was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category. McMahon also made several television appearances on shows like One Tree Hill and talk shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. In 2009, the documentary "Dear Jack" about his struggles with cancer, narrated by friend and artist Tommy Lee was released. You never know if the band will reunite again or not, so don't miss this chance to see them live in concert and get your cheap Jack's Mannequin tickets today!
