A Multi-Talented Star

Jennifer Lopez, also known as J.Lo, was born in the Castle Hill neighborhood in South Bronx, New York, on July 24, 1969. Born to Puerto Rican parents who never believed a career in the entertainment business was attainable for a Hispanic, Lopez began her career as a dancer and would eventually go on to become one of the highest-paid Latina actresses in Hollywood's history. At a young age she was dancing in musicals and music videos. Before long, the multi-talented star earned a spot as a dancer on the television comedy "In Living Color" after winning a national competition. J.Lo got her real start as a backup dancer for New Kids on the Block in 1991. She has since built an extremely successful career as an actress, singer, professional dancer, producer and fashion designer and these days, J.Lo tickets are a hot commodity.

Switch to Music

After several small film roles and short-lived television series, Lopez turned her focus to Hollywood. By the mid-1990s, she was featured alongside notable actors Robin Williams and Jack Nicholson in movies such as "Jack," "Blood and Wine," "Anaconda" and "Out of Sight." In 1997, she starred as the famous Tejana singer who was murdered in the film "Selena." Lopez switched gears and released her debut album "On The 6" in June 1999 and despite criticism, she became one of the very few stars to successfully convert from the big screen to the music industry. Her hit single "If You Had My Love" went platinum within just two weeks. Her second hit single was "Waiting For Tonight." Later hits include "Love Don't Cost a Thing," "Play," "Get Right," Do It Well" and perhaps most notably, "Jenny From The Block."

The pop singer's first accolade came in 1999 when she was named Best New Artist at the Billboard Music Video Awards, where she also won Best New Artist Video for her hit "If You Had My Love." Lopez received Grammy nomination Best Dance Recording for both "Waiting For Tonight" (2000) and "Let's Get Loud" (2001). In 2000 and 2003, she was nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist at the American Music Awards, taking home the title in 2003. She was named Favorite Latin Artist at the AMAs in both 2007 and 2011. In 2014, Lopez took home the Icon award at the Billboard Music Awards.

Lopez's discography includes "On The 6" (1999), "J.Lo" (2001), "This Is Me...Then" (2002), "Rebirth" (2005), "Como Ama una Mujer" (2007), "Brave" (2007), "Love?" (2011) and "A.K.A." (2014). Lopez has been known as one of the most dominant displays of the growing influence of the Latin culture within pop music. The talented actress and musician has said that her inspiration came from Oscar-winning Puerto Rican actress Rita Moreno. Musically, En Vogue, Paula Abdul, Madonna, Whitney Houston, the Spice Girls and Mariah Carey have all influenced her.

2019 It’s My Party: The Live Celebration Tour

J.Lo’s first worldwide concert tour was not until 2012's Dance Again World Tour. Previously a 2007 tour, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony en Concierto, lasted for two months. She headlined a residency, the first of its kind, "Jennifer Lopez: All I Have", which ran at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. With 2019 bringing Lopez her 50th birthday, it was announced that she would be hitting the road for the first time in nearly six years. The It’s My Party: The Live Celebration tour kicked off in June with the first performance in Phoenix at the Talking Stick Resort Arena. The tour stopped across the country in cities such as Dallas, New York, Atlanta and Philadelphia before it wrapped up in Miami in late July.
