On Jan. 17th 1971, Robert James Ritchie was born in Romeo, Michigan, but he's better recognized by his stage name: Kid Rock. Rock set himself apart from his small rural town by throwing himself into rap music and culture, he even taught himself how to break dance. Rock's inspiration came from white performers who combined rap with hard guitar rock like the Beastie Boys. Rock's first demo in 1988 landed him a performance at Boogie Down Productions where his first record company, Jive Records picked him up and funded his debut album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast. But when this album was fined over $20,000 for being too vulgar, Jive dropped him. From there he moved to Brooklyn and back to Detroit. Finally, in 1998, Rock saw success when Atlantic Records and MTV helped make his single and video, "Bawitdaba" a hit.

When his career really started to take off, Rock was nominated for many prestigious awards. In 2001 he earned Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist at the American Music Awards, and in 2003 his album Cocky won the AMA's Favorite Pop/Rock Album. Bad Reputation 2022 Tour

Starting in April, Kid Rock went on tour throughout the spring and summer in 2022. The opening act was Foreigner, a great way to get more fans excited for the shows. Grand Funk Railroad also joined the party for most of the tour dates. The tour went to Nashville, Houston, Cincinnati and more cities across the country.
