Something Spectacularly Different
Started in the suburbs of Seattle, the band got its name from a Virginia Woolf story. Modest Mouse toiled for several years in the indie scene, writing and recording music, until they were able to release their debut album, This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About. The record did well on the indie scene, and slowly word about Modest Mouse spread. The band hit major success in 2004 with their album Good News for People Who Love Bad News. Modest Mouse is a favorite at festivals, performing at events like Coachella, the Hangout Music Festival, and the Fun Fun Fun Fest. With Isaac Brock's distinctive vocals and catchy melodies, Modest Mouse manages to maintain indie darling status while achieving commercial success. Despite lineup changes, Modest Mouse has been faithful to their artistic vision, producing relatable but elevated music. The group teased at 2 new singles to be released this year on Record Store Day. This marks their first new content since 2015.
