From the Big Island to the main stage

Kaleo Wassman and Bret Bollinger started as school friends, but when they found they could groove, they decided to start a band. They tried several drummers before finding Yesod Williams, and the three of them relocated from Hawaii to San Diego. They paid their dues – their first gig in the area was at a sushi joint that compensated them with sake. As they opened for other established artists and worked hard on their local fan base, Pepper picked up steam. They released Give'n It in 1999 and went on to perform at Warped Tour in 2001. Pepper put out Kona Town the following year and toured with 311 and Slightly Stoopid. The band continued to relentlessly tour and release new music, until the grueling lifestyle got the better of them in 2008. After releasing Pink Crustaceans and Good Vibrations, the band took a breather. The next full-length album, their 2013 self-titled record, was a leap forward for the band. Pepper came back to the industry with a renewed vigor, jumping back into the studio and onto the stage with all the good vibes their fans adore them for.
