Growing up in Alaska, John Gourley and Zachary Carothers were friends in high school and band mates in Anatomy of a Ghost. Together, they decided to embark on a side project, which became Portugal. The Man when Anatomy of a Ghost fell apart. They filled out their lineup and jetted away from Alaska to record in Portland. Waiter: "You Vultures!" came out in 2006, their sophomore record following a year later. With their popularity blooming, Portugal. The Man toured the U.S. and Europe with bands like Circle Takes the Square and The Photo Atlas. They became sensations at festivals like Coachella, South by Southwest, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo. While the band released prolifically in the beginning of the their career, after 2013's Evil Friends fans experienced a lull in new music. All that changed in 2017 with the release of Woodstock, which included the groovy single "Feel It Still."
