Robert Earl Keen History

Keen was introduced to the Houston music scene from his younger sister, who frequented many bars to compete in world-championship foosball tournaments. The cover artists at these bars inspired Keen to pick up a guitar and learn for himself. He met Lyle Lovett in college, who helped Keen produce his first album, No Kinda Dancer. He didn't find commercial success until the release of 1988's The Live Album and 1989's West Textures, which were released on Sugar Hill Records. At the time, Keen was touring with the likes of Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. Today, Keen boasts a heavy arsenal of 18 full-length albums. In 1997, Keen released Picnic, an album describing his relationship with major record labels. Keen was at the forefront of the American rock industry at the end of 2018 when he and Randy Rogers released an album together as the Stryker Brothers, a fictitious alias as two siblings who died in a fire.
