The team is owned by Seattle Hockey Partners and are managed by Ron Francis. The head coach is Dave Hakstol, and the Seattle Kraken are affiliated with the Charlotte Checkers, an organization that functions as the minor league team for the Seattle Kraken. The team does not yet have a Captain.

History of the Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken have not yet played a game, but the city of Seattle was awarded an expansion franchise in December of 2018. Seattle Hockey Partners applied for an expansion franchise with the NHL, which was granted shortly thereafter. In 2020, the name "Seattle Kraken" became official. The city of Seattle has not had a professional ice hockey team since the Seattle Totems played during the 1970s. The city of Seattle has not had a Stanley Cup champion since the Seattle Metropolitans, who won the cup in 1917. The organization had to fold in 1924. The Seattle Kraken will play its first game in October 2021 against the Vegas Golden Nights in Las Vegas. Their first home game will be against the Vancouver Canucks a few days later.
