A passion pursued throughout the decades
Growing up in Maryland, Tamar Braxton started performing with her siblings in their church choir. She got her first break in the industry with her sisters as The Braxtons, releasing So Many Ways in 1996. Tamar decided to strike out on her own and released a self-titled album with Dreamworks Records in 2000. However, continued troubles with various labels meant Tamar struggled to get her own music out there. Instead, over the next several years she collaborated with her sister Toni on her solo career and got involved in television. Tamar finally got her shot at a second album in 2013, releasing Love and War to commercial success and three Grammy nominations. The album signaled a new beginning for the artist, a record packed with her vivacious personality and unbridled talent. She started touring again, joining superstars like John Legend, R. Kelly, and Mary J. Blige. Love and War kicked off a series of successful albums with hit singles like "Let Me Know" and "If I Don't Have You."
