Scaling the Ranks of MLS
The Whitecaps FC was founded in 2009 when Vancouver's sports scene joined Major League Soccer. The team debuted in 2011 with a striking 4-2 victory against the Toronto FC. In 2015 they dominated the national scene by winning the Canadian Championship, which led to their appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League. Despite being a relative new player in MLS, Vancouver has historic rivalries with both Seattle and Portland.
