Born in New York but raised in Georgia, Juaquin James Malphurs was inspired by some of the greatest hip hop scenes at a young age. He adopted his stage name as a combination of the nickname Waka bestowed by his cousin and Flocka Flame given by rapper Gucci Mane. Based in Atlanta, Waka Flocka Flame released his debut mixtape in 2009, skyrocketing to success with a string of mixtapes. His single "O Let's Do It," along with his contribution to Gucci Mane's hit single "Bingo," cemented his status as a rising star in hip hop. In 2010 Waka Flocka Flame released Flockaveli, landing at No. 6 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Waka Flocka Flame recruited Drake as a guest vocalist on "Round of Applause" off his second album, and his third record featured contributions from Timbaland and Wyclef Jean. Since Triple F Life: Friends, Fans, & Family, Waka Flock Flame has been prolifically releasing mixtapes featuring collaborations with music legends.
