About Lee Greenwood
Lee Greenwood is one of the most iconic American country music artists of all time. He has released more than 20 albums with major labels and has placed close to three-dozen singles on the Billboard charts of country music. He is known for several signature songs which are closely tied to the major war efforts in this country. He released a song titled "God Bless the USA" in 1984 but the song rose up the charts after both the Gulf War in 1991 and again following the attacks that took place on September 2011. This patriotic song quickly became his signature single. Lee Greenwood continues to tour to this day and is going on tour again in 2019.
A History of Lee Greenwood
Lee Greenwood was born in 1942 in South Gate, California but moved to Sacramento when his parents became separated. His interest in music started at a young age and he was first noticed in 1979 by Mel Tillis. Shortly after this, Greenwood began recording. His signature single "God Bless the USA" followed shortly after and Greenwood began to record hit after hit. Some of these included "Going, Going, Gone," "I Don't Mind if You're a Thorn," and "Dixie Road." In addition, Lee Greenwood also served as a member of the National Council of the Arts, nominated by George W. Bush.
